Save with Scenic
Scenic is turning back the clock on savings for those booking early.
Well, maybe not turning back the clock so much as holding it. They’ve unveiled their 2019 program of European and Russian river at 2018 prices. And, the savings don’t end there.
The line is also offering free flights to Europe and savings of $500 or $1,000 per person, depending on length of cruise and itinerary.
What’s more, solo travelers can enjoy 50 percent of all single supplements on any European sailing from April through November. That’s great news for those interested in venturing out on their own. River cruises are a lot more intimate than ocean cruises, and lines really do go out of their way to accommodate singles.
If Premium Economy or Business class is more your style, Scenic also offers discounts on those fares.
New for 2019 is an eight-day Seine sailing. It coincides with the 75th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy. The cruise sails through one of France’s most poignant and historic regions, from Paris to Honfleur.
Guests can walk the historic beaches of Normandy and visit the Normandy Cemetery. Other highlights include the medieval town of Conflans; Rouen, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake; and Claude Monet’s residence and gardens at Giverny. It’s amazing to walk amidst the water lillies, irisis and Japanese foot bridge that inspired some of Impressionism’s most revered works.
Scenic also ventures into Portugal, on the Douro River from Porto. Cruises begin in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Porto, and sail along one of Europe’s most storied wine routes. You’re guaranteed to learn more than you ever imagined about port wines.
Highlights include the fairytale-like Quinta Aveleda; Monastery of Saint John of Tarouca; lunch and Flamenco perfomance in the historic city of Salamanca, Spain and a canoeing adventure on the Sabor River.
